Affpuddle, a village of thatched cottages, is set in the green valley of the river Puddle and surrounded by
Dorset's famous heathland.

THE PARISH CHURCH
The Parish church, with is pinnacled tower, dates mainly from the 15th
century excepting for the 13th century chancel and south porch.

Thomas Lyllyngton had been a monk at Cerne Abbey and had been appointed to the living on its dissolution in 1539.

The font is Norman, the seating is Tudor, the latter bearing an inscription which informs us that they
were;-
mayd in the yere of oure Lord God 1548, the tyme of Thomas Lyllyngton, vicar of this cherch
|
The pulpit, also Tudor, carries the figures of John the Baptists and the Evangelists with their symbols. The
early 16th century screen stands in the east bay of the arcade.
The church was restored in the 20th century.
