The magnificent 15th century church is dedicated to St Micheal the Archangel. The parish comprises the villages of North Cadbury, Woolston and Galhampton with a total population of about 900.
The Camelot Group of Parishes
Having evolved for a number of years, the Camelot Group of Parishes was legally established in 1976 and was the first team of this sort in the county of Somerset.
The parishes of Blackford, Compton Pauncefoot, Holton, Maperton, North Cadbury (including the villages of Galhampton and Woolston), North Cheriton, South Cadbury and Yarlington, in the Diocese of Bath and Wells, are served by a ministry team consisting of the Vicar, lay Readers, retired and non-stipediary clergy.
The eight parishes work closely together in several ways. There are Group Services, a Group Choir and a combined monthly magazine named the "Excalibur" (after the Arthurian legends associated with Cadbury Castle) and a Group Council concerned with joint activities and long-term planning.

The imposing church of St Micheal's, built in the Perpendicular style, stands next to the Elizabethan mansion of North Cadbury Court.
Lady Elizabeth Botreaux (nee Daubeney of South Petherton) built the church on the site of an earlier structure in about 1417. In that year, she applied to
the king for a license to make it a collegiate church for a rector and seven priests. There is no evidence to suggest that
the college was ever formed although the chancel was obviously built with this intention.
The church houses a magnificent collection of carved medieval benchends dating from 1538.
Like many Somerset churches, St Micheal's is built in the Perpendicular style. The tower, rising to a height of 72 feet, was built at about the turn of the 15th century. The Chancel and Nave were built about 1417.
The Clock was built by Smiths of Derby in 1897, and completely overhauled by them in 1982.
The carved bench ends, one of the glories of the church, are thought to be the work of Dutch or Italian carvers in 1538; they are well worth studying.
The Chancel was originally panelled with stalls which were removed about 1850. Some misericords (from about 1500) were recovered and now hang near the pulpit.
The Old stone high altar is now on the north side of the sanctuary.
Windows
East - erected in 1876. Shows our Lord in Majesty. with St Michael and St Gabriel on either side. Above are the twelve apostles and below scenes from the Scriptures, all depicting angels appearing.
West - eight blue-robed saints are portrayed in 15th century glass. This window was restored in 1986.
Nave - these contain fragments of original glass.
The peal of six Bells dates from about 1770, having replaced an earlier one.
The Botreaux Tomb lies under the tower. The effigies are of Lord and Lady Elizabeth Botreaux. It was LAdy Elizabeth who built the present church. One of the finest tombs of its age, it was restored in 1985.
Note the Bronze Resin Figures on the stable wall of North Cadbury Court by the church path. made by John Robinson of Galhampton. They depict our redemption.
A guide is available from the church.
