The village lies about nine miles north-east of Weston-super-Mare.
The church, dedicated to St Nicholas, developed from a small Norman in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries while the fine pinnacled tower was added in the fifteenth century.
It underwent a graceful restoration in the 1820's and most of the furnishing date from this period.
The south transept contains the spacious pew of the Piggot family who were associated with the parish for some three hundred years. It possesses a separate entrance and a fireplace.
The font is Norman and the stone pulpit dates from around 1480.
The church, cared for by The Churches Conservation Trust, is locked but a key is usually available in the village.
At the time of the Domesday survey of 1086, Brockley was one of only five Somerset manors to be held in Saxon hands.
