The parish church was rebuilt in the 17th century.
The belfry contains two bells; one pre-Reformation, the other from c. 1590.
The 13th century font has been recut. The tower dates from the next century.
The imposing marble monument to Sir Thomas Freke, with its painted shields is squeezed behind the organ (the Freke arms form part of the carving of the screen surrounding the organ). Near the monument hangs the helmet which was carried at his funeral and nearby is the paintedpanel commemorating his widow, Elizabeth, who founded a school in the village in 1640;
Our infant tongues God's praises here resound, For her who here for us this school did found; Long may she live, and when her life shall cease Let her soul rest in everlasting peace. And let her offspring prosper still, we pray, So long on earth as sun shall rule the day.
Geroge Seymer was rector of the parish for fifty-two years in the 19th century.
THE ENGLISH CIVIL WAR During the English Civil War, three hundred captured Clubmen prisoners were locked up in the parish church overnight.
Elizabeth Freke, the wife of Sir Thomas Freke, founded a school in the village in 1640. A painted panel in the parish church commemorates her memory.
