Marlborough   St Mary the Virgin
The 15^th century church with a Norman west door was gutted by fire in 1563 and the interior rebuilt to the preferences of the Puritans who ruled the Commonwealth at the time of the restoration leaving the church light and airy but quite shocking to the unsuspecting visitor.

Mildenhall   St John the baptist
The church dates from Norman times with additions of the 13^th and 15^th centuries. It has a rare Georgian interior, crammed with oaken box pews, pulpit, reading desk and gallery, which has remained unspoilt since the refurbishment of 1816 - "You walk in to the church of a Jane Austen novel, into a forest of magnificent oak joinery . . .", Sir John Betjeman (an old Marlburnian) in a 1948 broadcast.

North Bradley   St. Nicholas
The church dates back to the 13^th century and is among the finest medieval churches in the area. It has seen many alterations and additions throughout its long history and displays various architectural styles; Early English, Perpendicular, Classical and Victorian. The Stafford Chapel was built by John Stafford (c.1387-1542), a local boy, Archbishop of canterbury and holder of high civil office - the first 'Lord Chancellor' - as the final resting place of his mother.
