A parasitic insect which gets into the wool of sheep and feeds on their blood.

The parasite fixes its head in the skin of the sheep causing a tumour. The female hatches the eggs within her body until they reach the pupal stage when they are fastened to the wool.

Sheep dip is used to free the sheep of ticks.
